Our team conducted user research with participants between the ages of 18 to 24 years old, including15 interviews, 5 user observations and 5 shadowing sessions to better understand their cooking experience and uncover their frustrations.
We learned that people don't want to spend time in the kitchen because it's tedious, time consuming and unfamiliar. A great amount of people were never taught how to cook, so either they cook meals that are already halfway prepared or they assist themselves in the kitchen by using their phone to look up recipes.

Prototyping and User Testing
We created a variety of rapid prototypes for people to test. Watching how users react to each form, getting their feedback, and analyzing the forms that were preferred.

The system is comprised of two kitchen essentials: a knife set and nestable cookware set that interface with a single smart handle capable of facilitating the cooking experience.
Cye is a kitchen system that simplifies the process of cooking from preparation to cleaning.
Cye conversational interface has a microphone located in the handle and the UI housing and speaker located in the knife block. This smart assistant is able to:
Set up a timer
Look up recipes
Play music
Using one removable handle allows pots and pans to comfortably nest for storage. In addition, it saves space when using a washing machine to clean them and enables cooking in the oven with them as you would with a cast iron pan.
